Animal Care Technician
WORK HOURS:
Monday-Friday 7am-4pm, 40 hours a week.
Flexibility to work on a rotational weekend shift is preferred.
These Animal Care Technician jobs are located at an Animal Site near Dublin, VA or Cumberland, IN.
When you arrive at work, you will have a personal locker to place your items in each morning.
Employees cannot have cell phones on site and must leave them in their cars.
Employees who work in this environment cannot have the following pets at home due to the nature of the work environment:
small rodents, hamsters, chinchillas, Guinee pigs, reptiles, lizards, snakes, etc.
House pets like dogs, cats or goldfish are okay to have.
This is individualized work.
Although there are many people who work at this site, each task is more individualized and you'll be responsible for caring for the animals, partaking in cleaning cages, feeding, and breeding responsibilities.
No prior experience is necessary, however this person must have a strong desire to work with animals on a daily basis.
What You'll be Doing:
Cares for animals including feeding, cleaning and breeding responsibilities.
Follows protocol to ensure the health and welfare of the animals in care.
Coordinate order details to include selection, packaging and confirming accuracy.
Keeps accurate records of breeding, feeding, cleaning and care of animals.
Maintains responsibility for sanitation of the animal buildings, cages and support areas.
Lift up to 50lbs on occasion AND stand/walk on concrete for at least 2 hours at a time Will be required to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, squat and lift animal crates, bedding, and food bags Ability to communicate (written and verbally) in English Desire to work with and care for animals on a daily basis and an interest in animal development and breeding Continuous effort toward contributing to a clean and safe working environment.
Ability and willingness to complete paperwork as needed.
Must be available to work weekends/ holidays on a rotating basis, and willingness to work overtime when needed.
